OBFCM - How companies can prepare
On May 19, 2023, the ZBD will activate the interface for transmitting the OBFCM data. To implement OBFCM data transmission
Changes are required in the ZBD assessment badge database and in the assessment programs. These adjustments to the interface between ZBD and the assessment program were published by the BMK at the end of February.
The business publisher is expected to implement a new program with Werkstatt.Connect on the Automotive Services platform by April 2023, which will transmit the OBFCM data from the NETMAN of the company asanetwork GmbH to the ZBD. The NETMAN 5 is already OBFCM-capable and can be installed. With Workshop.Connect we rely on the international workshop standard Workshop-Net/NETMAN (formerly ASA, https://workshop-net.net/ ). The Workshop Net standard has been used by EBV customers for over 20 years to automatically adopt emissions and braking values and the OBD report instead of the tailpipe measurement as part of the §57a assessment. It now also enables the transmission of the OBD readout of OBFCM data.
For customers who use the EBV Premium package, a license for Workshop.Connect will be available as part of the package at no additional cost. Users of the free EBV basic package can obtain a license for Workshop.Connect. The costs for this amount to €289 (plus VAT) per year. The license for NETMAN 5 is included free of charge for EBV customers as part of both EBV package variants.
A basic requirement in order to be able to transmit OBFCM data with Werkstatt.Connect is the appropriate diagnostic device. Please clarify with your workshop supplier or the manufacturer of your OBD device/emissions tester now whether the following requirements are met:
• Is your diagnostic device network-capable?
Below you will find a link to a list with a selection of diagnostic devices. These are network-capable and can communicate with other devices or commercial software via the “Workshop-Net” standard: https://workshop-net.net/asanetwork-faehige-werkstattgeraete-diagnose-a…
• Does your diagnostic device have the latest software and does it support the OBFCM service from Workshop-Net?
Please make sure that your OBD reading devices support the current Workshop-Net protocol standard (V3) and therefore provide you with the
Service for OBFCM is available.
In the next EBV tip you will find out which further steps are necessary in order to be able to correctly transfer OBFCM data with Workshop.Connect.
