German car rental company orders Chinese SUV

In August, Starcar became the first car rental company in Germany to expand its fleet with the Aiways U5. 130 vehicles will be distributed to locations nationwide; overall, the car rental company with its headquarters in Hamburg will have an electrification rate of around 10 percent. "For us, the Aiways U5 is an ideal vehicle to consistently expand the fleet in the direction of e-mobility. While we previously only had small and compact cars in our portfolio, with this spacious SUV we are now also targeting demanding corporate customers, families or sports enthusiasts with large equipment. The U5 is ideal for this because it combines the advantages of a trendy vehicle and a green lifestyle," explains Stephan Töllner, responsible for the New Mobility area - a department that Starcar has due to its prioritization of sustainable projects in the company.

300 kilometer range

In addition to the large interior, the car also offers a good range: 300 kilometers could be covered in the self-test without any problems, which is why the car is well suited for a weekend trip. The model also impresses with numerous assistance systems. "In order to make the switch easier for our customers, especially newbies to electric vehicles, when renting the Aiways U5 we also offer to recharge the vehicle for the duration of the rental at Starcar's expense. It is important to encourage a rethink, because the future of the entire industry lies in sustainable mobility solutions."

Dominik Vertesi, Director of Sales Germany at Aiways Europe, also emphasizes the advantages of the collaboration: "Starcar's rental car offer offers a new brand like Aiways a flexible entry into the market in order to get customers excited about our Aiways U5. With Starcar we want to open up further customer groups and also get them excited about our future products. The pursuit of intelligent technical solutions, including in sales and customer contact, is part of the core of the Aiways brand. The rental car market is therefore an important pillar and is looking into the future an interesting and exciting opportunity.”
