Biofuels save CO2
The Ministry of the Environment's biofuel report confirms: In 2019, savings of more than 1.5 million tons of CO2 were achieved through biofuels.

Biofuels save CO2
Biofuels currently represent the largest and most efficient measure for reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the traffic and transport sector. The recently published Austrian Biofuel Report 2020 by the Ministry of the Environment once again confirms this enormous contribution. “In Austria, 6.2% of fossil fuels are replaced by biofuels - we are still at the top of the EU and this should be an incentive to give the green light to expand the use of sustainable and waste-based biofuels,” says Ewald-Marco Münzer, CEO of Münzer Bioindustrie GmbH and biodiesel spokesman in the WKO chemical industry association on the publication of the Environment Ministry's current biofuel report. More than 1.5 million tons of greenhouse gases were saved in 2019 through the use of certified sustainable and waste-based biofuels. "No other measure makes such a high contribution to decarbonization. It is therefore time to implement the government program and advance the expansion of the use of biofuels in a future-oriented manner," says Ewald-Marco Münzer.
