Mobility Campus is already playing almost everything

Am Freihof 23, 1220 Vienna. This should be the first address in Vienna when it comes to the training and further education of specialists in the field of automotive technology. The Vienna State Guild began installing a high-quality training workshop here at the end of 2021. The automotive industry asked what the current state of affairs is.

“We have started full operation with basic and periodic further training,” says the Vienna State Guild Master of Vehicle Technicians, Georg Ringseis. A smooth course of training is guaranteed.

Background: The Automotive Academy of the Austrian Business Publishing House, which, among other things, organizes the mandatory §57a basic training and further education on behalf of the Vienna State Guild, has been on board with the mobility campus from the start, has given up its old location in the south of Vienna and has also moved there.

Wirtschaftsverlag managing director Thomas Letz emphasizes that there are optimal conditions at the new location and says: “I am pleased that we were able to enable our customers a seamless transition to the new location without having to interrupt the operations of the Automotive Academy.” Of course, operations run under strict Corona regulations. Only people who have either been vaccinated or recovered or have a valid PCR test (2.5 G) can take part.

The building is being built on an area of 400 m on the site of a former construction company warehouse2There is a modern training workshop above it at around 200 m2Seminar rooms.

According to Ringseis, there was only one problem in November, namely delivery problems with the heating. “But that just worked out, also because the weather gods were kind to us,” the industry representative remembers of the warm autumn.

After that, things happened in quick succession: “The first final apprenticeship exams for automotive technicians took place at the mobility campus in November and December of the previous year,” reports Ringseis.

Ringseis emphasizes that the campus should also be suitable for training in body construction and painting technology. Workbenches and machines have already been delivered for the plumbing shop and a painting booth was also recently installed.

A high-voltage workplace is to follow. The state guild would like to counteract the shortage of skilled workers with the training campus and also pays tribute to the rapid technological development.

The recent worsening of the corona pandemic is or was of course also unpleasant for the organizers of the mobility campus. “Omicron hurts a lot,” says Ringseis. Ultimately, evening events and lectures for members of the interest group have so far had to be avoided.
