Additional business with chargers

AUTOMOBILE INDUSTRY:Many car dealerships and workshops in Austria are still cautious about electromobility because they fear the loss of traditional sources of revenue. Rightly so?

CHRISTOPH ERNI: I often hear these complaints when I visit workshops and car dealerships, but my answer to them is always the same: Electromobility is not a danger, but an opportunity for new additional business. I can only advise every company to get an electric car and gain personal experience with it. This is the best way to get to know the needs of potential customers.

What needs are most important to you as a passionate electric car driver?

For example, I enjoy the almost silent drive and the peace and quiet when driving. Every rattle, every pebble that hits the wheel arch is annoying, as is the loud rolling noise of conventional tires. For example, you could offer customers silent tires or a soundproofing package, which are completely new services. E-car owners experience their vehicle more as a living space and less as a machine. You can also score points with offers for interior care. And of course there is sales potential when it comes to charging technology. For example, with the sophisticated solutions from Juice Technology, which we developed specifically from the customer's perspective.

How can a car dealership benefit from this?

Our mobile charging station Juice Booster 3 air, for example, offers the complete range of functions of a stationary 11 kW charger and is no larger than a Coke can. The device can be connected to any Schuko or industrial socket in the car dealership and charge electric vehicles directly in the showroom. This means that the company does not have to install a wallbox to which the vehicles first have to be driven. The small device is extremely robust, can easily withstand being driven over with a wheel load of three tonnes and can reach every corner of the showroom with an extension cable.

Can this device also be used at home instead of a wallbox?

Of course, and this is another additional business opportunity for the car dealership. The mobile charging solution saves the customer the time-consuming and expensive installation of a wallbox at home, which requires an electrician or sometimes special permits. The juice boosters are listed as suitable accessories for all electric vehicles from the Stellantis Group and can be sold profitably by the car dealership. The charging solution is also suitable for taking with you, as in hotel garages, for example, there is not always a wallbox, but there is usually a socket. Using our app j+ pilot, you can track the charging process and easily bill according to kilowatt hours.

Will Juice also offer wireless charging solutions in the future?

This actually depends on demand. However, I personally don't see much potential. Many drivers already find it difficult to find a parking space. How is that supposed to work with a small contact plate under the battery pack in the ground? Modern wired chargers like our Juice Boosters are so easy and convenient to use that contactless charging would only solve a problem that in reality isn't a problem at all.
