New Würth logistics center

With an investment of 20 million euros, the new Würth logistics center in Böheimkirchen with over 60,000 storage spaces was built in a construction period of just one and a half years. “Between 6,000 and 8,000 parcels are processed here every day,” explains Würth CEO Alfred Wurmbrand at the opening and presses the start button that sets the conveyor belts in motion. Würth is also proud of the new photovoltaic system on the hall roof, which covers 80 percent of the daily electricity requirement. In the spirit of sustainable operations, the 55 Austrian Würth branches are supplied with reusable packaging; around 20 tons of plastic film are saved on packaging every year. The new conveyor technology reduces the consumption of filling material by adjusting the height of the box; the air cushions used consist of potato and corn starch. “Würth’s move from Vienna to Lower Austria was a smart, important and right decision,” says state governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner and congratulates Würth on the 20th anniversary of its location in Böheimkirchen, which currently employs over 300 people.
