AutoZum 2023: date not ideal
Salzburg's leading trade fair for the automotive aftermarket was poorly attended compared to pre-Corona times.

AutoZum 2023: date not ideal
201 exhibitors from 13 countries and 11,636 visitors came to the 31st edition of the trade fair. "AutoZum 2023 was an important event for the automotive industry, which is facing major changes. However, it has become clear that the June date this year was not optimal for the industry," said Benedikt Binder-krieglstein, CEO of RX Austria & Germany, the organizer of AutoZum. "Together with industry representatives, we made this decision at a time when AutoZum had to be postponed twice due to Corona-related uncertainties and we wanted to give the industry the opportunity for an urgently needed exchange. However, the upcoming AutoZum will return to its original January date in 2025," continued Binder-krieglstein. To this end, the organizer will be in close contact with the exhibitors and partners in order to accompany the automotive industry in its transformation with AutoZum.
“The entire industry is changing at a rapid pace,” says Christian Konrad, project manager at AutoZum. "The expansion of e-mobility and other drive technologies such as hydrogen technologies will lead to a change in the range of workshop services. At AutoZum we showed what opportunities this creates for automotive aftersales and how the domestic automotive industry can best prepare for the future," says Konrad. The automotive industry is an important economic factor and employer - also for the state of Salzburg, as Peter Buchmüller, President of the Salzburg Chamber of Commerce, emphasized at the opening of AutoZum. "There are over 1,700 motor vehicle businesses in Salzburg, including almost 1,000 dealers and 700 workshops. The industry thus secures 6,800 jobs," says Buchmüller. The automotive industry is currently training almost 650 apprentices in Salzburger Land alone.
In the “Future Mobility Area” powered by Evaluus, trade visitors were able to obtain comprehensive information about e-mobility. The focus was on converting workshops towards e-mobility, workplace safety and the correct handling of batteries - from packaging to professional transport and storage to recycling. New business areas such as checking loading equipment were also presented. “In view of the continued increase in the number of registrations for electric vehicles, it is essential to get an idea of what this means for your own company and what preparations are necessary in order to continue to operate successfully on the market,” explained Deniz Kartal, Managing Director of Evaluus.
