Automechanisa 2024: Liqui Moly lubricants
For Liqui Moly Managing Director Günter Hiermaier and Export Manager Salvatore Coniglio, Automechanisa was an excellent opportunity to underline the company's sustainability focus with an innovative packaging solution. “The bag-in-box system saves 90 percent of plastic compared to the classic 20-liter canister,” explains Hiermaier and demonstrates how the empty container can be folded to save space. The exterior of the new bag-in-box packaging consists of coated, waterproof cardboard. It contains a completely recyclable plastic bag that requires 90 percent less plastic to produce than a classic 20-liter canister. The cardboard container is offered for the most common oils from the Ulm-based lubricant manufacturer's range. Although Bag-in-Box is made of different materials, like conventional plastic containers, it can be disposed of free of charge via the container recycling company of the mineral oil industry (GVÖ).
When it came to storage in the workshop during the development phase, an essential requirement was that the Bag-in-Box fit into the Liqui Moly oil cabinet. “After all, thousands of workshops around the world use this proven organization and placement system and should not have to purchase another or alternative system,” emphasized Günter Hiermaier. Conclusion: In a modern Liqui Moly oil cabinet, 36 boxes can now be stored in the same space as 24 canisters. Thanks to the integrated collecting tray made of galvanized sheet steel, the oil cabinet meets the official requirements in Germany for handling substances that are hazardous to water. It is also lockable, which prevents loss of lubricant.
