Automechanisa 2024: Banner starter batteries
Lead-acid batteries are still used to supply the on-board electrical system in almost all current electric and hybrid vehicles. These feed a variety of control devices and serve as a buffer for important safety devices. With its power storage systems, the Linz-based battery manufacturer is not only the original equipment manufacturer for well-known car manufacturers such as BMW, Volkswagen and Audi, but also supplies the replacement parts market. The Banner Running Bull AGM batteries have proven themselves as reliable 12V starter and on-board power batteries for many electric car and hybrid models.
As one of the pioneers of innovative start-stop batteries, Banner has been contributing to reducing CO2 emissions for decades. Today, 95 percent of the lion's share of combustion vehicles are equipped with start-stop systems. Two technologies dominate the market: the AGM battery for vehicles in the upper segment with the highest energy requirements and the EFB battery for compact vehicles with high energy requirements but simpler start-stop systems. When recycling batteries, the company relies on a closed recycling cycle and also attaches great importance to compliance with ESG (environmental, social and governance) criteria. More than 95 percent recycled lead is used in the production process for starter and electrical system batteries and up to 80 percent recycled polypropylene is used for the battery boxes. The sulfuric acid collected from old batteries is also processed into sodium sulfate, which in turn is used to make detergents and glass.
Banner also presented its extensive range of accessories at the Automechanika trade fair stand. These include the profile chargers Accucharger 12V 15A / 24V 7.5A and Accucharger 12V 25A / 24V 12.5A. The professional dual-voltage battery chargers come from the new generation of fully automatic and voltage-regulated accuchargers. They charge all 12V and 24V batteries, even lithium-ion batteries (LiFePO4) with an integrated battery management system (BMS) are recognized and charged correctly by the two new Accuchargers.
