Two highlights from Michelin
Double award for Michelin: “Tyre Manufacturer of the Year” plus airless concept tire Uptis is winner in the “Tyre Technology of the Year” category.

Two highlights from Michelin
Michelin is starting 2020 with a bang at the Tire Technology Expo 2020 in Hanover: For the second time in a row, Michelin has received the title of “Tyre Manufacturer of the Year”. The trade fair organizer also recognized the Uptis airless concept tire as “Tyre Technology of the Year”. The 2020 Tire Technology International Awards for Innovation and Excellence are among the industry's highest honors. They are awarded by an international jury made up of representatives from the tire and vehicle industry as well as experts from research and university teaching and presented at a gala dinner at the Tire Technology Expo at the Hanover exhibition center. The panel recognized Michelin's commitment to producing efficient, innovative and sustainable products. The awards also confirm Michelin's long-standing requirement that tires be subjected to standard tests even when they are being driven - a belief that other tire manufacturers and European legislators now share: These tests will become mandatory for tires from 2024. The airless concept tire Uptis (Unique Puncture-Proof Tire System), which celebrated its European premiere at the IAA last year, has already received several awards. The unique wheel-tire combination requires no air pressure at all. This makes the tire more puncture-proof than conventional tires. Since it does not require air pressure monitoring, the tire is practically maintenance-free.
