Goodyear shows the new Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6
Goodyear introduces the Asymmetric 6, the latest generation of its Eagle F1 series of ultra-high performance (UHP) tires. The Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 features new technologies for improved dry performance, improved braking and wet handling, aiming to offer maximum balance. It is also suitable for electric vehicles.
Designed for a wide range of vehicles, including sporty small cars, family cars, luxury sedans and sports coupes, the Asymmetric 6 offers a number of innovations that build on its predecessor, the Asymmetric 5. The result should be a tire that not only impresses with its braking and handling performance on wet roads, but also with its performance on dry roads and its sporty properties.
"The Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 improves performance on dry roads through an adaptive contact patch. It increases during extreme driving maneuvers, adapting to the driving style and thus ensuring more grip and sporty driving behavior. In wet weather, the innovative tread compound of the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 ensures more micro-contact with the road surface. This technology originally comes from racing. It increases resistance to rough road conditions and thus ensures better grip the street.”
Every tire in the Goodyear range is also suitable for electric vehicles, with the Asymmetric 6 having been specifically developed with the requirements of electric cars in mind. Its noise-reducing profile is intended to reduce the volume, as can be seen on the EU tire label. The new mixture technology also reduces rolling resistance to increase the range of electric vehicles. “The result is a tire designed for modern mobility,” says Goodyear.
Laurent Colantonio, Regional Technology Director EMEA, Goodyear: "The Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 is the latest member of our award-winning Eagle F1 family. With key innovations to improve performance on dry surfaces as well as braking and handling in wet conditions, it is ready for all conditions, giving the driver the safety they need while keeping them excited about the tire. At Goodyear, we are proud to work with leading car manufacturers to advance the next generation of mobility and the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 meets these highest requirements.”
The Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 will be released in Q1 2022 in 28 sizes. The popular sizes in 17 and 18 inches will be launched in January, followed by further 17, 18 and 19 inch sizes in February and March. In April the range will be expanded to 21-inch models. In 2023, the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 will be available in 65 sizes from 17 to 22 inches.
