AkzoNobel's Vehicle Refinishes (VR) division has launched an innovative mobile app that allows refinishers to quickly and easily identify the cause of a paint defect while determining how to fix it. To do this, a camera image is compared with a digital image database of the most common painting errors. The PaintDefectID interactive web application is based on three simple steps that the painter must follow:

The Browse button allows painters to view the list of common painting errors, improving their knowledge and understanding of the specifications in the products' technical data sheets. Daniel Kapeller, Austrian Sales Manager at AkzoNobel, emphasizes that the company is constantly thinking about new ways to support customers with digital solutions: “PaintDefectID is the latest digital innovation that complements our solutions for paint shops such as Carbeat, our workflow application tool and the digital color search application Mixit.” The tool is at the address www.paintdefectid.com available that can be accessed via mobile device.
