Vredestein presents all-season tires
With the QUATRAC PRO, the Dutch tire manufacturer Vredestein is presenting an all-season tire in the ultra high performance segment for the first time. He can do everything, but what exactly?

Vredestein presents all-season tires
When we received the invitation from Vredestein, we initially thought it would be about the company's 110th anniversary. Only later did it emerge that the Dutch would be presenting a fresh all-season tire for high-horsepower cars: the Quatrac Pro. The first all-season rubber specifically for the UHP segment.
LARGE SIZES
Vredestein made it clear during the presentation: “The Quatrac Pro is currently the only all-season tire in Europe that is available in sizes 17 to 21 inches.” It's a mess, not a mess. To find out about the tires, we get the Alfa Romeo Stelvio, the Volvo XC90 and a BMW 5 Series fitted with fresh Quatrac Pros. We were supposed to see the new rubber for ourselves on a closed route at an old military airport. First exercise: irrigated circular path. It's about traction, steering feel, feedback. And to make it fun: for a while. It's just stupid: everyone has exactly one attempt. In a car you don't know, on a train you don't know. A round lasts around 27 seconds. I'm brave and say: the shortest tire test in my history. What can I say after almost a minute in the BMW? Nice car. Tires? Yes, they were there too.

EXPERIENCE BRINGS COURAGE
Next stop: emergency braking in the Volvo XC90 on a soaking wet track. Full throttle, emergency braking and then around the cones. Oh wonder, it always works out. Lies securely on the non-slip rubber. Vredestein reveals that the Quatrac Pro has ten percent better wet grip and five percent better handling on snowy surfaces. To be honest, even in the braking and evasion test on a special slip surface that simulates snow, I can't say much about the tire because there is no comparison to a winter or summer tire. The only thing I quickly noticed was his precise steering behavior.
WIDE BORDER AREA
Finally, we can give some material on a handling course in the Alfa Romeo Stelvios. Almost 20 degrees and sunshine are good conditions for an all-season tire. And in fact, the sporty Stelvio is a real driving pleasure. The Quatrac Pro shows a wide limit range with a buttery smooth transition from grippy to slippery. The steering precision is right. The technicians explain that the Quatrac Pro has two faces: the outside of the tire is more like a summer tire and is tuned for performance, the inside is more like a winter tire with more sipes and different tread blocks. If you drive actively, the outside grips the asphalt; if you drive comfortably in wind and weather, you roll around more comfortably and safely on the inside.
FEATURES
What sets the Vredestein Quatrac Pro apart? On the one hand, the speed index Y (up to 300 km/h), which is available for 29 of 50 dimensions. On the other hand, there is the snowflake symbol, which makes the Quatrac Pro a fully-fledged winter tire (ECE R117), which can actually be used all year round on the European market. And the traditional Italian Giugiaro tire design is there too.
