Textar celebrates 111 years

Textar thanks its customers for their trust in its products with numerous anniversary celebrations at its in-house trade fairs. On the occasion of the Schnapszahl, the brand is also inviting you to a series of BBQ events together with the Werkstätten wholesaler. “The demands on brake pads are increasing, for example due to electromobility, the trend towards lightweight construction or the new Euro 7 standard,” explains Sebastian Böhm, Head of Key Account Management & Marketing D-A-CH at TMD Friction. “Our motivation: to achieve top performance for our customers so that retailers, workshops and drivers can rely on the quality of our products and our support.” Textar was founded in 1913 by Walter Willson Cobbett Ltd. as a sales company with the name Scandinavia Belting Ltd. founded in Cologne. The German market was initially conquered with woven belts that were suitable for braking vehicles. In 1934, Leverkusen began producing its own brake tapes for wheel brakes and the brand name Textar - a made-up word formed from Textile Asbest- und Riemen-GmbH - was born. Today, the brand's now asbestos-free products reliably bring countless vehicles to a stop around the world.
