Premium touring tires from Bridgestone

So a new rubber. Black, round, with an obvious summer profile. Presented in Athens. Turanza T005 is the name of the new development from Bridgestone. A summer tire that is intended to become the leader in its class with low rolling resistance (EU tire label B) and maximum wet grip (EU tire label A). We were able to collect our first driving impressions on a wet handling course. And indeed: the corner entry speeds in the wet are spectacularly high. Where I had actually wanted to lift for a long time, the Bridgestone test driver asked me to keep my foot on the gas and just turn in. With big eyes and a bit of a sinking feeling in my stomach, I go into the corner. And out again without understeer. Hats off.
THE END CUSTOMER PRODUCES
The Bridgestone Turanza T005 has already impressed in the wet. But what is particularly exciting is the path that the tire developers have taken. Because the T005 is intended to be a tire for a very broad target group. Therefore, European end customers were involved in the development. Bridgestone wanted to know who the customers actually are, what expectations they have from tires and what everyday challenges the tires on customer cars have to overcome. The answers are exciting. The average mileage recorded is just over 17,000 kilometers per year, while customers expect the tires to last more than two years. The question of the relative importance of the tire characteristics is also exciting. For 23% of respondents, price was most important. Cornering and braking behavior in wet conditions followed closely behind at 22 and 21%. Also interesting: Premium tire buyers would pay up to 15% more if the tire label value was increased from C to A, and at least 13% for B.
DEVELOPED PRECISELY
With the results of the end customer survey, the development direction of the Bridgestone Turanza T005 was clear. In order to underline the positive properties, Bridgestone has created a performance profile together with TÜV-Süd. According to this, the Nippon rubber is 8 and 6% better than an average competitor tire, especially when it comes to braking and cornering in wet conditions. The T005 also scores with 4% better rolling resistance than the tested competitors. The Bridgestone Turanza T005 is already available in 101 dimensions with tire sizes from 15 to 19 inches.
