Liqui Moly remains loyal to Betamotos
Liqui Moly is extending its two-wheeler cooperation with Betamotos. And we ask the development manager what to look out for when it comes to VINTAGE OILS.

How does a classic car get a sip of modern motor oil?
This could lead to a severe upset stomach. Modern synthetic oils are generally unsuitable for older vehicles because they do not match the engine technology used at the time.
But doesn't modern oil lubricate the engine better?
It's true that modern engine oil is extremely powerful. But the performance of these lubricants does not meet the requirements profile for classic vehicles. A completely different additive is necessary here because modern, ash-free oils have wear protection that is tailored to other engine materials. The detergents contained in these additive packages prevent sludge formation, which is a disaster in old, filterless engines.
To what extent does engine production play a role?
The engines of vintage cars and even older classic cars are made of different materials and have different manufacturing tolerances and oil change intervals than modern cars. That's why we have engine oils for classic cars in our range that are based on specially developed recipes.
What is different about the new recipes for classics than the previous ones?
Older drive systems, especially those with high mileage and other materials such as white metals, non-ferrous metal alloys and sealing elements, require different oils. A big difference between today's lubricants for classic cars and those of the past is their performance spectrum. They meet the special requirements of classic engines and at the same time have the most modern wear protection properties. Therefore, modern vintage oils are significantly superior to the earlier ones.
Does a classic oil have to perform the same as a lubricant for modern cars?
Then as now, lubricants are important elements of engine design. Lubrication is just one of many tasks. The oil must thermally relieve the engine, seal it, protect it against signs of wear and corrosion and ensure engine performance. Previous ones cannot be compared with the designs and loads of today's units. The temperatures and pressures in modern engines are much higher than in old drives. In addition, the issues of reducing emissions and saving fuel used to play little or no role. This is precisely why tailor-made oils are so important so as not to risk engine damage. That was true before and it is true today. Which oil is the right one can be found in the vehicle manual. NEW BUSINESS AREA: BEARD OILS
Liqui Moly is adding three new beard oils to its portfolio. “Similar to our vehicle oils, we don’t offer one for everything, but rather the right product for the respective beard type,” explains marketing manager Peter Baumann. The Lumberjack variant is for full beards and strong hair growth. Mustache oil supports the styling of elaborate mustaches. And because every beginning is difficult, the product 'Delicate Fuzz' was created for fine hair. "The cosmetic products expand our business area. They are part of our future strategy," says Baumann.
