Let's start our visit with Hella Gutmann's concentrated technical expertise in diagnostics and with Ralf Gutekunst, diagnostic product manager. Hella Gutmann recently presented the mega macs 56, the first compact diagnostic solution with a real-time repair concept, at the Automechanisa in Frankfurt. And now Ralf Gutekunst shows us what the device, which has so far proven itself excellently on the market, can do. “The mega macs 56 is a light, compact and mobile diagnostic system that, on the one hand, has the latest diagnostic technology and also provides workshop customers with read error codes in real time,” says Gutekunst. The device is battery-operated and was completely redeveloped. Crystal-clear illustrations allow operation like a smartphone, simple, self-explanatory and efficient. “The mega macs 56 appeals primarily to those users who appreciate the performance portfolio of a premium diagnostic device, but would like to do without technical highlights such as the classic oscilloscope,” explains the product manager. The latest technologies were used for the device, such as the Linux-based operating system and the capacitive touchscreen.

Diagnostic database
Based on the model of the mega macs 66, the mega macs 56 is equipped with two slots on the front and can therefore be expanded in a modular manner in terms of hardware. “The mega macs software is used, which almost completely covers a good 40 vehicle manufacturers,” explains Ralf Gutekunst. The on-site services include: reading or deleting error codes, actuator tests, coding, basic settings and service resets. The Hella Gutmann Solutions diagnostic database contains diagnostic and repair data for over 35,000 vehicle models from all major car brands. To ensure that the workshop is always up to date, it is continuously provided with the latest updates. Hella Gutmann has developed the Camera & Sensor Calibration Tool (CSC Tool) for the regular checking of driver assistance systems. This means that modern assistance systems can be easily checked and adjusted. The mega mecs 56 is optimally equipped to communicate with the CSC tool. The measurement technology module ensures that you can keep an eye on all relevant currents, voltages and their curves at all times. All error logs read and all work carried out are stored in the so-called “Car History”. The workshop can use this collected data to seamlessly track the vehicle history and also for customer loyalty.
