Five questions about oil

What do tires and oil have in common? They are truly high-tech products, black (at least over time) and difficult to market. You can rarely “experience” both products – except on the invoice. Nevertheless, lubricants are extremely important in modern engines. Anyone who saves here is saving in exactly the wrong place. This also needs to be explained to end customers again and again. In our story on the right, we tried to clear up or correct the five biggest misconceptions about engine oil. Not all oil is the same, the viscosity says nothing about the quality or usability.
When we talk to lubricant manufacturers, we often hear that there is still a lot of ignorance out there in the workshops about key oil parameters. The most important thing is the correct specification! Small workshops that try to use as few different types of oil as possible sometimes risk damage to their customers' engines. And they are significantly more expensive for the company than ordering a small container from a trusted supplier. Yes, oil is still black gold. But precisely because companies can still generate fantastic margins with it, it pays to be up to date and to always take part in a short lubricant training course as a refresher. Then the shine of the black gold will last even longer, because the almost oil-free electric cars will be waiting for a few more years in the independent workshops.
