The right battery for optimal performance

If a battery failure occurs and it needs to be replaced, it is strongly advisable to choose a suitable model that meets the requirements of the car manufacturer and corresponds to the driving style. Thanks to its modern user interface, Exide's easy-to-use online battery finder is the ideal tool for quickly finding the relevant battery.

Exide offers the complete range of batteries. These include conventional standard and premium wet batteries (standard and premium), modern liquid electrolyte batteries (EFB - Enhanced Flooded Batteries) and lead-fleece batteries (AGM - Absorbent Glass Mat; both main and backup batteries for start-stop systems). This selection reflects the complexity of the market segment to deliver the right product for each application and ensure winter reliability.

The real added value, however, is that Exide uses carbon as a chemical additive. For vehicles with modern engines and extensive electrical equipment, Exide has developed Premium Carbon Boost 2.0 batteries that can be charged twice as quickly as conventional batteries. Guido Scanagatta, Senior Product Manager Transportation EMEA at Exide Technologies, explains: "These batteries are ideal for extreme temperatures as well as city traffic or driving in demanding conditions. The technology also works well in stop-and-go city traffic, where batteries are often insufficiently charged via the alternator. Premium Carbon Boost 2.0 batteries are an excellent upgrade for conventional propulsion systems that require faster charging."

The company's EFB batteries with Carbon Boost 2.0 also support all vehicles with high charge cycle requirements, regardless of whether they have a start-stop system or not. In addition, they offer additional performance. “Intelligent alternators and regenerative braking systems in vehicles with a start-stop system ensure optimal energy recovery, maximum fuel savings and lower CO2 emissions,” says the expert. “With our EFB batteries with Carbon Boost 2.0 for start-stop drive systems, the service life of conventional drives can also be extended.”

Both battery ranges keep aftermarket customers at the cutting edge of energy efficiency. Drivers also benefit from lower operating costs thanks to fuel savings and less frequent battery replacements. Proactive Maintenance to Prepare for Winter Making matters worse, the self-discharge and corrosion problems caused by the heat of summer often only become apparent when the thermometer drops in the fall or winter, requiring more energy to start the engine. “Fortunately, there are a few simple ways repair shops and their customers can avoid the headaches caused by battery failure,” says Scanagatta. “Technicians can use intelligent inspection tools and give their customers the appropriate tips.”

Using an advanced battery tester, such as the EBT965P battery tester from Exide Technologies, mechanics can check the condition of the battery. Algorithms developed by Exide provide the necessary data to advise the customer whether the battery should be checked again or replaced. “The most important advice, however, is to have the battery professionally checked all year round,” says the expert.
