Andreas Zanat has a strong handshake that you should be prepared for. “I’m just a man of action,” he laughs and proudly shows around his business, which opened three years ago. Three ladies in reception are the first point of contact for private and fleet customers, four automotive technicians and three apprentices work in the spacious workshop halls, two further employees take care of pick-up and delivery services, and an accountant takes care of the numbers. Customers can watch their vehicle being repaired live from a gallery. “It is the first show workshop in Austria,” says Zanat, emphasizing that transparency, fairness and trust are the cornerstones of his corporate philosophy. A concept that has completely worked: just three years after it was founded, the Flying Car Service records 20 to 25 vehicle visits per day, the regular customer database includes over 2,000 living customers, and both LeasePlan and the post office consider Zanat's workshop to be a premium partner.

When Andreas Zanat took the risk of founding a company, he turned to Stefan Friedler, then diagnostics and capital goods specialist at SAG Austria, about workshop equipment. “We planned every detail and also took future developments into account,” says Friedler, who is now the head of Hella Gutmann in Austria. The Flying Car Service is not only equipped with a heavy-duty lift for vans and motorhomes, but also with its own hall for the repair of high-voltage vehicles and a diagnostic hall in which, among other things, emissions tests are carried out. “We have around four electric cars a week, and the number is constantly increasing,” says Zanat. When making the diagnosis, he relies entirely on Hella Gutmann's product portfolio. The flexible system mega macs x can be used via laptop, tablet or even mobile phone via the browser, regardless of the operating system. Zanat chose the most comprehensive software license module, X5, which even allows him to carry out guided high-voltage measurements. “If the diagnostic system doesn’t know what to do, I use the practical macsRemote service,” he says. “This means that Hella Gutmann can also make certain coding functions, which are only possible with an original brand tester, available to independent workshops via remote access,” explains Stefan Friedler. This means Zanat doesn't have to deal with data access restrictions or cyber security management hurdles. Because as a car master with many years of experience, he knows what really matters: “Every car tells a story – you just have to listen carefully!”
