Automechanisa 2024: AVL DiTest diagnostic technology

Based on two decades of intensive research in the field of e-mobility, AVL DiTest has developed tools for the entire repair process of high-voltage batteries. At Automechanisa, the Graz-based company presented its currently available testing tools. “The range includes products for independent workshops and testing organizations as well as tailor-made solutions that were developed in close cooperation with vehicle manufacturers,” explains David Plantl, E-Mobility Product Manager. His colleague Nina Kornsteiner shows the tasks that workshops face in the course of the battery repair process: “We cover the checking of voltage absence and measuring the insulation resistance with our workSAFE tool, and checking the tightness of a battery housing with our noLEAK solution.” The Graz measurement technicians have developed the micrΩHM tool for checking transition and module internal resistances, and AVL DiTest provides the rightCHARGE tool for evaluating battery modules. The universal tool solution HV SAT rounds off the range.

David Plantl explains that every work on a high-voltage vehicle begins with the activation process. "The switch for power interruption is located in a different location in each vehicle model. With our tools, we offer a guided activation process for 80 percent of all electric vehicles on the market." With the e-mobility tools from AVL DiTest HV Safety and workSAFE, work on high-voltage vehicles can be carried out safely and in accordance with country-specific standards. Each work step is documented and is available in a results log. Other key topics at AVL DiTest's trade fair stand were exhaust gas measurement, including a particle measuring device, and air conditioning service. In both areas, the Graz-based company presented its latest product generation with improved features.
