Painters are lifelong learners
The EDER body shop in Waldneukirchen near Steyr relies entirely on Sikkens when it comes to paint. AkzoNobel's wide-ranging partner and training programs are equally important to the young entrepreneur.

Painters are lifelong learners

In 2013, Thomas Eder took over the business from his father, who had founded it in 1981, and has been steering the fortunes of Fahrzeugbau Eder GmbH in Waldneukirchen ever since. The traditional family business employs ten people and always trains apprentices, currently two. It was always clear to master bodywork technician Thomas Eder that he would one day take over his parents' business. In order to ensure optimal customer service, Eder has continuously expanded his company's service portfolio and optimized repair techniques. Jobs such as complete painting, spot repairs as well as special and industrial painting are carried out using modern and sophisticated repair methods. For growing demands such as: For example, Eder lacked the space for a truck or car paint booth. In spring 2019 he will therefore open a second location in Kremsmünster, 16 kilometers away.
ON A GROWTH COURSE WITH SIKKENS
Eder has been a Sikkens partner since May 14, 2018. “I am excited about the time-saving UV products and the new color tools,” says Thomas Eder about the automotive industry. “The fillers and varnishes allow for quick and precise repairs and the digital color matching is not only easy, but also efficient and accurate.” Essential for Eder, who is also an Acoat Selected partner, are AkzoNobel's partner and training programs, which offer a wealth of seminars, for example on working techniques and workshop management topics. With his direct supervisor at AkzoNobel, Jürgen Leitner, he was able to optimize numerous processes in the workshop. Daniel Kapeller, Sales Manager at AkzoNobel Austria, emphasizes: "For us, customer support is always about: How can we support everyday work procedures? How can we help make our partners fit for the future?" Permanent further training is essential. And so Eder's two apprentices will take part in the AkzoNobel Apprentice Academy in Elixhausen next year, which offers valuable theoretical and practical training. Next year, the Eder company will also become an Acoat Selected Intense partner in order to fully benefit from the further training offers.
