Digitalization with Axalta

If the paint manufacturer Axalta has its way, paint shops should focus on digitalization today rather than tomorrow. "We are already noticing that digitalization in the automotive sector is constantly increasing. In order to be fit for the future as a painter, to accelerate internal and external processes and thus remain competitive, the change should take place soon," says Andreas Auer, Marketing Manager Axalta, explaining the situation. For this purpose, Axalta in Austria works closely with the IT specialist Cancom and has developed the ColorKiosk. The ColorKiosk is a state-of-the-art computer workstation for painters, consisting of a Dell industrial computer, 22-inch LED monitor, label printer, barcode scanner and an electronic scale for color mixing. Companies that also have a modern color measuring device can use WLAN to compare the measurement with the cloud-based color management software directly from the vehicle and mix the most suitable color recipe. This is faster, more secure and, in the event of complaints, can be traced almost completely.

THINK AND TAKE ACTION

Cornelia Kassmannhuber-Tschernigg, managing director of the Tschernigg bodywork and paint company in Klagenfurt, was the first painter in Austria to install the ColorKiosk in her company, thereby initiating gradual digitalization. In return for a monthly flat rate for hardware/software, installation, maintenance and online immediate help, she no longer needs to worry about IT infrastructure and IT support. The rental and service agreement is valid for 60 months. In the event of an irreparable defect, Cancom guarantees complete hardware replacement by the next working day. For the managing director, it's a more than worthwhile investment: "For a manageable monthly rate, I no longer have to worry about the IT solution in the mixing room. And if something goes wrong, I can immediately turn to experienced professionals who can take care of the problem. This saves my nerves and I can concentrate on what's important."

CORE COMPETENCE

For Axalta, the cooperation with Cancom also brings an improvement in day-to-day business. Harald Dögl, Product Manager Axalta, explains: "We supply modern and economical paint systems, provide application technology support and accompany our customers' processes. Solving their IT problems has previously required a lot of energy and effort from our employees. With the ColorKiosk we can offer a highly professional all-in-one solution, while at the same time we are focusing more on our core business." By the way, Cancom offers more than just IT solutions for paint shops.
