BASF Coatings brings together digital business solutions for paint and body shops in the cloud-based “Refinity” platform.

BASF digitizes the painting process
With the introduction of the new features, automotive refinish customers will gain seamless access to digital color experiences as well as business and training solutions. For example, according to BASF, the new ScanR spectrophotometer is the fastest and most accurate solution for color matching. The system takes five precise measurements in just 30 seconds and automatically recognizes the vehicle identification number VIN and license plate, minimizing errors and saving time. It also features scratch detection and provides access to the industry's largest color database for precise color recognition and perfect matching. The redesigned ImagePlus feature is fully compatible with previous generations of spectrophotometers. It helps shop managers and painters speed up the color identification process with improved intuitive visualization and accuracy.
Increasing efficiency
Visualized color selection on screen eliminates complex data interpretation, while real-time comparisons reduce spray sampling and increase efficiency. By analyzing spectral curves and accurately detecting effect particles and coarseness, results are further refined, ensuring perfect color matching with minimal material loss. “Thanks to our expertise in color technology and sustainability, as well as developments with our OEM partners and customers, Refinity will improve the performance of workshops in all areas,” promises Chris Titmarsh, Senior Vice President Automotive Refinish Coatings at BASF. Connected to the fully automatic Alfa CR4/6 mixing machine, the digital color process is particularly fast and precise and can carry out up to six mixtures at the same time.
