In view of rising energy costs, painting companies have to look for ways to save money. This is where the innovative Axalta Energy Scanner comes into play, checking variables such as outside air temperature, spray booth temperature, baking temperature, gas and electricity costs, number of jobs per week and general spray booth data. The tool then calculates where and how savings in process time and energy consumption can be achieved by comparing the cycle cost to the cycle cost of Axalta Refinish's Fast Cure Low Energy (FCLE) technology. This product system uses both ambient temperature and humidity to speed up the drying process. This has been proven to reduce the energy costs of a combination spray booth with a gas surface burner by around 75 percent, based on a typical 30-minute drying time at 60 °C. The patented technology is offered through Axalta's premium refinish brands Cromax, Spies Hecker and Standox. Conclusion: Axalta's energy diet enables capacity increases and thus offers the company new growth opportunities. Desired side effect: The CO2 balance of body workshops improves by up to 55 percent.
