Axalta Coating Systems, global provider of liquid and powder coatings, has announced its 2024 Automotive Color of the Year. With the latest color “Starry Night”, Axalta is presenting a shade of black for the first time in ten years. Starry Night is a strong, modern shade with light blue and silver effect pigments that is intended to evoke the depths of our universe and space exploration. As a dynamic color, Starry Night transcends classic and modern design styles and harmonizes with other colors, finishes, patterns and surfaces.

“Black is the second most popular car color in the world, so we are excited to announce a shade of black as our 2024 Car Color of the Year,” said Dan Benton, Senior Manager of Global Color at Axalta. "The Starry Night color makes the black shine and the dark appear noble. This year's car color is part cosmic and part classic - but completely Axalta." Axalta first introduced Radiant Red as its car color of the year in 2015. Since then, the company's global team of color experts has worked every year to develop an emerging trend color for the automotive industry.
