Automechanisa 2024: BASF paint products
Under the #EcoEfficiency label, BASF presented new products from its Glasurit and R-M paint brands at Automechanisa, with which workshops can reduce their material consumption and at the same time protect the environment. The Glasurit water-based paint system “Series 100” with a VOC content of less than 250 g/l is around 40 percent below the legal limit and enables material consumption to be reduced by up to 30 percent. “Through chem-cycling, we extract oil from old car tires, which we can use in paint production,” explains BASF Marketing Manager Tina Allhoff. For example, for a 5-liter clear coat can from the 100 series, two entire car tires are recycled.
Glasurit is also introducing a fully digital color mixing process that helps body shops reduce their ecological footprint and make their business more sustainable. According to BASF, the fully automatic mixing machine alfa CR4/CR6, powered by Refinity, enables the fastest simultaneous mixing process in the industry. The “Body Shop Boost” consulting service was also presented at the trade fair stand – a comprehensive tool for evaluating the performance of body shops. Last but not least, BASF Coatings organized a series of workshops on digitalization, in which the experts also used Glasurit's “KnowHow” training platform and the VR spray painting tools, among other things.
