There are no more bad paints”
AUTOMOBILE INDUSTRY: Mr. Kapeller, what do you expect from AkzoNobel's appearance at the KLS specialist days in Wieselburg?
DANIEL KAPELLER: We will be represented at the KLS specialist days together with our sales partner ABW Lacksysteme and are looking forward to being able to introduce visitors to, among other things, our solutions for greater energy efficiency in painting operations. We also present cordless tools from our trading partner Makita, which not everyone in the painting industry is familiar with. There are really practical, cordless devices for grinding and polishing that are sure to be of interest.
Efficiency is an important issue for paint shops given rising energy costs. What energy saving aids does AkzoNobel have in its range?
Our star in this area is certainly the Paint PerformAir, which optimizes the gun compressed air for the painting process. The device ensures charge-free surfaces, tempers and humidifies the compressed air and thus makes the painter independent of the ambient temperature and humidity. The experiences of our customers who use the device show energy savings of up to 70 percent because, among other things, there is no need to heat up the paint booth.
What innovation potential still exists in the paint material, and how does AkzoNobel want to differentiate itself from the competition with its Sikkens paint brand?
To be honest, there are no bad paints left today; technical development in the industry has reached a very high level. However, we have two assets that set us apart from the competition. On the one hand, this is our reliable supply chain. Since we are a European company, we have relatively short delivery routes and can almost always meet demand. Secondly, we differentiate ourselves through our consulting program for paint shops, which includes a thorough economic analysis along with the resulting recommendations for action. In an objective ranking, the company finds out where it stands in comparison to its competitors and what measures it can take to improve its ranking.
Do you expect to be able to recruit additional members for your Acoat Selected partner network in Wieselburg?
In fact, the Wieselburg location is ideal for an exhibition of the bodywork and painting industry because it is also easily accessible from Lower Austria, Upper Austria and Vienna. We recently gained 30 new customers across Austria, twelve of them in Styria alone. Hopefully a few more will join us at the KLS specialist days.
