Austria's largest research and technology organization is getting a new three-person management team.

AIT with new management
The AIT Austrian Institute of Technology is the largest non-university research institution in Austria and, among other things, plays a key role in basic research on the subject of mobility. The owners of the AIT are the Federal Ministry for Climate Protection, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology (BMK) and the Association for the Promotion of Research and Innovation (VFFI) of the Association of Austrian Industry. Since the term of office of the previous management ends at the end of June 2023, the supervisory board of the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology with its chairman Peter Schwab was tasked with finding a successor to the current management. Result: The new three-person management, which is appointed until June 2028, consists of Brigitte Bach, spokeswoman for the management, Andreas Kugi, managing director of scientific excellence and Alexander Svejkovsky, managing director of finance, processes and administration.
The new three-person leadership of the AIT is characterized by concentrated competence and shared leadership. Brigitte Bach takes responsibility for the strategic positioning of the research institution as well as responsibility for external relations and product portfolio. Andreas Kugi shapes the scientific profile in the main research areas and is responsible for the successful positioning in research and technology development at a top international level. Alexander Svejkovsky is responsible for all business matters, real estate and digital infrastructure. It also ensures that it is embedded in the framework conditions of Austrian and international research funding. AIT Supervisory Board Chairman Peter Schwab is pleased with the transparent process and the extremely positive results in the search for the new managing directors and emphasizes: “Top research requires top management at the top.”
The 57-year-old physicist Brigitte Bach is currently board member of Salzburg AG for Energy, Transport and Telecommunications. Previously, she headed the telecommunications, electromobility and new business areas at Wie Energie. Andreas Kugi (55) is head of the Institute for Automation and Control Engineering (ACIN) and professor of complex dynamic systems at the Vienna University of Technology and has been heading the Center for Vision, Automation & Control at AIT together with Andreas Vrabl since 2017. Alexander Svejkovsky (50), long-time CFO of AIT, is one of the best financial experts in the domestic FTI scene. The expertise he has built up over many years is an essential asset for the AIT.
