Replacement at the top of Audi
Gernot Döllner will join the Volkswagen AG Executive Board as the new CEO of AUDI AG effective September 1, 2023. There he succeeds Markus Duesmann, who is leaving the group management at the same time. "Markus Duesmann deserves great thanks for his achievements at Audi. He launched an ambitious electrification strategy, set an important strategic milestone with the e-roadmap, and provided early clarity for an orderly restructuring of the company by setting the course for a full switch to e-mobility," said Volkswagen Supervisory Board Chairman Hans Dieter Pötsch. “With Gernot Döllner, we have been able to gain a manager with great corporate and product experience who will now consistently develop and advance the Audi strategy,” said Pötsch. Gernot Döllner, a native of Lower Saxony, studied mechanical engineering and joined Volkswagen as a doctoral student in 1993. At Porsche AG, he held several senior positions, including head of concept development and head of the Panamera series. Since 2021 he has headed the overall strategy and the general secretariat in the Volkswagen Group.
