The Tyrolean entrepreneurial family Unterberger has been firmly anchored in the Lake Constance area for 22 years and already runs five BMW and MINI companies there. The family business from Kufstein currently operates a total of 21 automobile locations, making it one of the largest automobile dealers in Austria and southern Germany. As of July 1, 2025, the Unterberger Group will also take over the Karl Fritz car dealership in Pfullendorf in the German state of Baden Württemberg and will continue to operate it seamlessly as a branch of its BMW and MINI business “Autohaus Unterberger GmbH” in Lindau. The founders Karl and Monika Fritz said: “In the Unterberger family we have found a partner who represents a similar philosophy and will continue our traditional car dealership in our spirit and also take on our employees.” Karl Fritz will stay on board as a consultant for six months and will manage the site as operations manager during this time.

Ideal addition

For Unterberger Automobile, the takeover represents an ideal addition to its location portfolio in the Lake Constance region. “Karl and Monika Fritz are handing over to us a small but very fine and excellently managed company with an ideal location in the Pfullendorf industrial area, which is state-of-the-art in technology and fully meets the high requirements of the BMW Group,” say Gerald, Dieter and Fritz Unterberger Jr., managing partners of Unterberger Automobile. The Unterberger family business, founded in 1976, has been present in the Lake Constance region since 2003 and is firmly anchored with BMW and MINI dealerships in Lindau, Lindenberg and Wangen as well as on the Austrian side in Dornbirn and Nenzing. The integration of the BMW and MINI service operations enables the use of diverse synergy effects. "Our customers can continue to have all service, repair and warranty work for BMW and MINI carried out in Pfullendorf at the usual high level. In addition, they have access to the approximately 1,600 vehicles of new, demonstration and used cars from Unterberger Automobile's 15 BMW and MINI locations," emphasize the Fritz and Unterberger families in unison.
