Sono sells Sion directly

In the version of the Solar Electric Vehicle Sion, which is now ready for series production, the photovoltaic cells and the cabling are in a polymer layer that is only 45 nanometers thick. The Sion should be able to generate energy for an average range of 112 kilometers per week. The front and rear lights have been redesigned, and other door handles and a new front loading flap also adorn the production version. In the interior, the moss remains as a filter for ventilation, and the steering wheel and seats have been improved. For cost reasons, Sono Motors refrains from marketing its vehicles through motor vehicle dealers. Instead, the Sion should be brought to customers online and via roadshows. For service and repairs, however, established car dealerships and workshops are sought.

The Solar Electric Vehicle (SEV) is equipped with a 54 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery that charges with up to 75 kW DC or 11 kW AC. The range is 305 kilometers. Series production will start in Finland at Valmet Automotive in the second half of 2023. In the first year of production, Sono Motors expects a low four-digit production volume. After completion of the ramp-up phase, the planned production is 43,000 vehicles per year. The contract with Valmet runs for 257,000 vehicles over seven years. So far there have been 19,000 reservations with an average deposit of 2,225 euros each. Sono Motors had to increase the sales price several times during the development process. Anyone who orders now will pay 29,900 euros for the Sion - minus the environmental bonus, which will hopefully still be available in 2023.
