Austria's most popular company cars

Seven of the ten most popular company cars are fully electric. At the top, however, is the Škoda Octavia, a classic combustion engine in the business class. The ranking is based on orders from ALD Automotive and LeasePlan customers. In addition to Škoda, three brands dominate the top 10: VW (three models), BMW (three models) and Tesla (two models). Tesla's Model Y made it to second place among the most popular company vehicles, followed by the VW Golf in third place. The high proportion of electric vehicles is particularly noticeable. Seven of the ten most ordered cars last year were fully electric. Klaudija Casar Torkar, Managing Director of ALD Automotive | LeasePlan is one of the most popular company cars in Austria: "What was already apparent in the new registrations last year is now also confirmed in our popularity ranking: electric cars are increasingly displacing combustion engines from the market. I am convinced that as the variety of models continues to grow and prices fall, the top 10 will soon be purely electric."

1. Škoda Octavia, diesel (12.8% share of all car orders in 2023)

2.  Tesla Model Y, electric (6.2%)

3.  VW Golf, diesel (5.2%)

4.  Škoda Enyaq, electric (5%)

5.  BMW i4, electric (4.9%)

6.  BMW iX3, electric (3.3%)

7.  VW ID.4, electric (2.8%)

8.  Tesla Model 3, Electric (2.6%)

9.  VW Passat, diesel (2.6%)

10.  BMW iX1, electric (2.5%)

Companies have special requirements for commercial vehicles. For a long time, e-transporters were not convincing due to their limitations. The new model generations last year brought significant improvements for the first time in years and thus met with growing interest among Austrian traders. This is also reflected in the ranking of the most frequently ordered commercial vehicles. The Fiat Scudo (5th place) is an electric van in the top 5. However, the clear favorites last year were the Ford Transit Custom (1st place) and the VW Transporter (2nd place), which together accounted for around a third of all commercial vehicle orders. "I am pleased that manufacturers are now paying more attention to the important business area of electric commercial vehicles and are investing in further technical development. The mobility transition can only succeed if the conditions are created for everyone to switch to clean mobility," says Casar Torkar.
