Mazda celebrates record growth

Mazda sold 1.24 million vehicles worldwide in the last financial year, an increase of 12 percent compared to the previous year. In Europe the sales increase was 13 percent, in Austria even 24 percent with an increase from 5,488 to 6,791 new registrations. The first quarter of this year is also extremely satisfactory for the Japanese brand in the Alpine republic: end customer purchase contracts have already increased by 25 percent compared to the previous year. Mazda Austria Managing Director Heimo Egger and his new company spokeswoman Pia Buchner were in a celebratory mood when they presented their pleasing key figures in Vienna. “The brand is traditionally firmly rooted in Austria, our team is committed, the products fit, and the dealers are motivated,” says Egger, listing the four success factors.

According to Egger, an additional success factor is the high loyalty of Mazda customers to their brand companies, which is unparalleled. “For every 100 Mazda owners who visit a branded repair shop, 72 come back next year – regardless of whether their car is 2 or 12 years old.” One reason for this is the popular six-year guarantee on all models. Growth in aftersales in April 2024 was an impressive 14 percent compared to the same month last year. The number of leasing and loan financing that Mazda Austria has been processing together with CA Auto Bank since the beginning of 2024 is also growing. In April alone, the proportion of leasing contracts increased by 39 percent compared to the previous month. The ranking of the most popular Mazda models shows a clear SUV preference: in first place is the CX30, then comes the small car Mazda 2, in third place is the CX5 and in fourth place is the CX60. From October, the model family will be expanded with the five-meter-long six- or seven-seater CX80.

“For this year’s financial year, I expect further growth in Austria of around 10 percent to 7,300 vehicles,” explains Heimo Egger. It will be his last year as Managing Director at Mazda Austria, as after nine years he has decided to leave the company at the end of 2024. His successor will be Christian Heider, who will take up his new role on October 1, 2024. The native German is currently working in a senior sales position at the Mazda European headquarters in Leverkusen and will be moving to Klagenfurt with his family for his new role in order to start working with his new team on site.
