As announced at the awards ceremony at the New York Auto Show, the Kia EV9 secured the prestigious titles of World Car of the Year and World Electric Vehicle. The jury – 100 automotive journalists from 29 countries – praised the innovative design, the spacious seven-seat interior and the competitive price level. The brand's new flagship is based on the E-GMP platform and is the first Kia with the powerful fourth-generation battery technology.

Established in 2003, the World Car Awards annually recognize notable achievements in the rapidly changing automotive industry. In the recent past, Kia has already achieved three victories in the prestigious competition: in 2020 with the Telluride as “World Car of the Year” and the e-Soul as “World Urban Car” and in 2023 with the Kia EV6 GT as “World Performance Car”. “We are extremely honored that the EV9 has been named World Car of the Year and World Electric Vehicle in 2024. This triumph is a testament to our unwavering commitment to continually push the boundaries of technology and design,” said Ho Sung Song, President and CEO of Kia. The two wins at the World Car Awards add to the Kia EV9's already impressive string of awards. Since its launch, the brand's first three-row EV SUV has received various awards, including Germany's "Golden Steering Wheel 2023" in the "Family Cars" category, as well as the titles "Wonen's World Car of the Year 2024", "North American Utility Vehicle of the Year 2024" and "Best Premium SUV" at the Newsweek Auto Awards 2023.
