The body of the DS 7 Vauban consists, among other things, of aramid, HPPE fibers, armored steel and safety glass, thereby protecting passengers from attacks with small arms. The driving performance and braking behavior are almost on a par with the basic model DS 7 E-TENSE 4×4 300. The new DS 7 Vauban accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds. The additional weight caused by the armor is only 164 kilograms, meaning that the hybrid tank can also be driven with a B driving license. Options such as an automatic fire extinguishing system, lockable ventilation, siren or an outdoor intercom system are available upon request. For further personalization, the DS 7 Vauban is available in special colors for the body and interior, with exclusive embroidery for the upholstery or with a standard holder.

The enthusiasm generated by the DS 7 Élysée, designed for the French President, paved the way for the development of a small series of armored DS 7s. Stampings with the Vauban lettering and some special controls are the only details that distinguish the armored version from the production model. The basic model is manufactured in the Mulhouse factory, and Welp France carries out the conversion into a special protection vehicle in Hérimoncourt, not far from Mulhouse, where the company has taken over part of a former Stellantis Group factory. The first vehicles have already been manufactured and homologation is planned for June 2024. "The DS 7 Vauban was developed for a demanding clientele. We are proud to have such a product in our offer," says Olivier Francois, CEO DS Automobiles.
