Caritas drives a Volkswagen

As part of the fleet conversion, the new vehicles were handed over to employees in Vienna and Lower Austria - just in time for the 50th birthday of the Volkswagen Polo, which is now starting its social service as Caritas' mobility partner. Volkswagen Austria was represented at the handover by sales manager Adnan Muratspahic. The qualified health and nursing assistant Vesna Strahinovic took over the first vehicle and, on behalf of all her colleagues, emphasized: “I think the Polo is ideal for our daily operations in the country and in the city – maneuverable and with enough space for our equipment.” Caritas nursing staff look after around 2,700 people at home in Vienna alone. To achieve this, the mobile care employees cover around 1 million kilometers per year. The nursing staff are out and about in the city and in the countryside in all weathers. Reliable mobility is crucial, especially in remote areas without public connections. Gudrun Zeilinger, Volkswagen brand manager, is pleased that Caritas relies on Volkswagen: "Nurses do outstanding work every day and are indispensable for our society. With the Polo, we offer a compact helper, a vehicle that combines reliability, comfort and safety and is therefore ideal for intensive use in the social sector."

The Volkswagen Polo, which is celebrating its 50th birthday this year, has been very popular with customers for six generations. The compact entry-level model in the Volkswagen range with its fresh design is particularly popular as an urban companion among young and older drivers. The sixth generation is based on the modular transverse matrix (MQB) and sets new standards in terms of connectivity, safety and driving dynamics. The small car comes with assistance and comfort systems that increase safety and comfort and that are otherwise only found in higher vehicle classes.
