Lightning start for BYD

In the fourth quarter of 2023, BYD overtook all global competitors and became No. 1 in battery electric vehicles. The brand from the Middle Kingdom is imported into Austria by CCI Car Austria GmbH, a 100% subsidiary of Wolfgang Denzel AG. Danijel Dzihic, Managing Director of BYD Austria, is satisfied: "Last year couldn't have gone much better for us. With 1,024 new registrations, we achieved our ambitious goal of a four-digit result. According to our data, this is a new record, as no other BEV brand has achieved this in the first year." Dzihic is also optimistic about the outlook for 2024, as BYD will significantly expand its vehicle portfolio this year. Dzihic: "We operated with only one volume model, the ATTO 3, until October. The first DOLPHIN models were already with customers in November - and delivery of the extremely popular BYD SEAL, a sporty electric sedan, which is in great demand, will soon begin. With the SEAL U - the practical electric family SUV with plenty of space and a range of up to 500 km - the next model is already in the starting blocks."

Like all other BYD models, the SEAL U will also offer e-mobility at the price of a comparable combustion engine and will score points with extensive standard equipment as well as the particularly safe and long-lasting blade battery, which does not contain nickel, cadmium or cobalt. Another milestone is the comprehensive dealer and workshop network, which was built up in just 12 months: "We had an incredible number of unsolicited applications and were able to choose the crème de la crème. This also shows how great the trust is in the brand's high-tech DNA. We currently have 30 BYD partner companies that sell, service and repair. In Salzburg and St. Pölten we want to close the last two gaps this year," said Dzihic.

At the end of 2023, BYD also confirmed the construction of a brand new manufacturing and production center in Szeged, Hungary. The modern car factory will be the first car production facility of a Chinese manufacturer in Europe and the third BYD factory in Europe (e-buses are already being built in Hungary and the UK). The factory will be built in phases and is expected to create thousands of local jobs, boost the local economy and support local supply chains.
