ÖAMTC technician Thomas Hava summarizes the results as follows: "Eleven cars achieved the maximum rating of five stars - mostly without any problems and in some cases even with above-average results in all criteria. MG ZS Hybrid and Renault 5 have to be content with four stars. The Hyundai Santa Fe is a special case: an optionally available safety package increases the rating from four to five stars for an additional charge." However, there is bad news for Ford: As with the Ford Tourneo Custom tested in May 2024, the Tourneo Courier panel van version also had problems. The ÖAMTC expert points to two main points that lead to the low rating: "Firstly, we found that in the event of a frontal collision against a rigid obstacle - such as a wall - there is little protection for the head of a smaller person in the back seat, which can lead to fatal injuries. Secondly, the safety assistants leave a lot to be desired." The Tourneo Courier is equipped with various systems, but in the test they reacted e.g. B. do not hit other cars in cross traffic.

Pick-ups have long had a reputation for being unsafe due to their heavy weight and general construction. Now Euro NCAP has tested the first electric vehicle in this class available on the European market: the eTerron 9 from the Chinese manufacturer Maxus. Hava: "The larger the vehicle, the more dangerous it is for the other party involved in an accident. This is where the eTerron 9 surprises: Our tests did not show any problematic values when colliding with other vehicles. And the electric pick-up is also far better at protecting weaker road users than you would expect based on its size and weight. The well-functioning emergency braking and driving assistants also help it here." Overall, the eTerron 9 achieves a strong five-star rating. There were also five stars for the Audi A5, Cupra Tavascan, Deepal S07, Hyundai Santa Fe, Leapmotor C10, Lexus LBX, Mazda CX-80, MG HS, Mini Countryman, Porsche Macan, Subaru Forester and Volvo EX30. The MG ZS Hybrid and Renault 5 received four stars, while the Ford Tourneo Courier only received three stars.
