What Austrians pay attention to when buying used cars

For Austrians, when buying a used car, the absolute most important criterion is that the vehicle is in perfect condition, while the color of the car has the least relevance. This is shown by a representative survey conducted by aktuellwagen.at among 500 Austrian drivers.
When purchased, the new used vehicle should have no defects (88 percent) and be cheap to use (80 percent). Women in particular pay more attention to these criteria than men. Two thirds of men are positively influenced by good, comfortable equipment and many functions when choosing a new used car. However, the color of the car is the least important criterion for both genders.
In any case, the used car buyer pays attention to the costs. The low price is in third place on the priority scale, followed by a low mileage, the year of manufacture and a well-maintained service book. Men have more detailed ideas about the model and brand (63 percent). These criteria are only a purchasing decision for around half of women. Opinions differ when it comes to environmental friendliness. For 58 percent of women, the emission class is important; for men the value is significantly lower at 45 percent. The performance/horsepower of a car ranks in the bottom third in terms of importance when deciding to buy a new used car.
