With an average price of 26,732 euros, the downward trend in used car prices remains constant. Since the beginning of the year, the cost of used vehicles has fallen by an average of 6.3 percent. "We are eagerly watching the further development of used car prices. Summer is traditionally a good time for buying a car, as demand decreases somewhat due to the holiday season. Anyone who is looking can now look at them in peace," says Nikolaus Menches, Country Manager of AutoScout24 in Austria.
Prices are falling, especially in the expensive segments. At 71,482 euros, the sports cars on offer can be found on the AutoScout24 platform in July, 7.7 percent or almost 6,000 euros cheaper than at the beginning of the year. For the upper class you now have to spend around 4,200 euros (-6.5 percent) less at 60,635 euros. The prices for the middle class (23,436 euros) and upper middle class (20,018 euros) have fallen between 5 and 6 percent. The costs for the popular van/minibuses have also been reduced to the same extent to 23,628 euros. A small car can be purchased for an average of 14,760 euros in July, which corresponds to a decrease of 5.8 percent or 1,458 euros less compared to January 2024. The compact class is just under the 20,000 euro mark. Interested parties can find SUVs/off-road vehicles for an average of 34,754 euros, making them 1,420 euros cheaper than they were seven months ago.
Used electric cars in particular are more affordable in July than at the beginning of the year. Buyers now pay around 8.5 percent or 3,640 euros less. On average, the electric cars are offered for 39,007 euros. Diesel vehicles (-6.6 percent, 24,557 euros) and cars with CNG drive (-6.5 percent, 12,478 euros) also became significantly cheaper. Petrol engines have fallen in price by 5.7 percent and are currently at 26,270 euros. The price advantage for hybrid vehicles compared to the beginning of the year is minus 2,200 euros (-4.6 percent, 34,593 euros).
