Vehicle valuation with Bosch
To get an idea of the condition of a used car, a lot of technical know-how and a complex inspection have been required. With the new used car certificate, Bosch now offers a solution that enables a manufacturer-independent assessment and certification of the condition of the used car quickly and easily based on stored vehicle data. The background: According to a study by the ADAC, speedometer manipulation is still easily possible - despite the EU regulation from 2017, which requires the protection of new vehicle models from manipulation. For used electric vehicles, a DEKRA study shows a clear lack of trust in the performance of the drive batteries. These findings make it clear that transparency about vehicle condition represents a major challenge for the used car market. With the new Bosch certificate, used car sellers and buyers as well as mobility service providers such as vehicle dealers or fleet operators receive a neutral basis for determining the residual value. This ensures transparency and trust in the used car trade.
The used car valuation service can be booked as part of the Bosch diagnostic software ESI[tronic] Evolution. Bosch uses the diagnostic software and the KTS 560 or 590 diagnostic module to read and analyze the data stored in the control units. An innovative software system consolidates the data and brings it together in a vehicle-specific Bosch certificate. Depending on the scope of the service package, the certificate lists the critical error codes from the vehicle system, identifies past accidents and overdue maintenance, reveals potential manipulation of the displayed mileage and documents the current battery capacity of electric cars and plug-in hybrids. The new used car valuation service opens up expanded sales potential for workshops through new customer groups in the used car market. The system also strengthens customer relationships through trustworthy support in used car sales.
While a conventional used car check in the workshop involves a lot of manual effort, the Bosch used car certificate offers a simple and quick assessment of the vehicle's condition. The workshop submits the request for certificate creation via the ESI[tronic] Evolution diagnostic software. Various service packages are available, which vary in the scope of the vehicle evaluation. After the workshop employee has connected the vehicle via a KTS 560 or 590 diagnostic module from Bosch, the reading of the stored vehicle data and the creation of the Bosch certificate begins. The workshop customers receive the certificate directly on site in digital or printed form. With the used car certificate, Bosch is helping to counteract the lack of transparency and mistrust in the used car market. The new service will be available to select European customers from early 2025. The rollout for additional customers and countries will take place over the next year.
