This star now advertises used cars
Erdoğan Atalay is the newly minted testimonial for Driverama. The actor is best known for his driving skills as highway police inspector Semir Gerkan in the action series “Alarm for Cobra 11”. He was recently looking for an accident-free car for his daughter: "I wanted to buy my daughter, who would now like to get her driving license, her first car and looked at various used cars. Ultimately, I found what I was looking for on the used car platform Driverama. There, the cars are checked for defects and technical problems by so-called Car Geniuses in order to guarantee a fair price," says Erdoğan Atalay. And further: “I was able to look over the shoulders of these boys and girls and discovered ten tips for buying a used car.”
1. Was there a bang?
A private seller must declare accident damage if you ask him or her about it, a dealer even without being asked.
2. Who rests...
Problem areas for rust are primarily door sills, tailgates and wheel arches. If you suspect that body parts have been replaced, check the gap dimensions of the fenders and hood as well as the trunk lid and doors. If the gaps between two body parts are irregularly wide, then you can assume that one of the parts is not original.
3. Everything at the touch of a button
Test all switches and functions inside, such as windshield wipers and ventilation, and have someone outside the car confirm that lights and indicators are working.
4. Not quite tight anymore?
The engine compartment is the one place you want to see dirty when buying a used car. Why? A sparkling clean engine compartment indicates that fluid or oil regularly leaks from porous pipes and seals. Everything was probably wiped clean here shortly beforehand – stay away!
5. The tire test
To determine whether a tire still has enough tread, you can use a €1 coin: If the gold edge disappears completely into the tread, there is still more than three millimeters of tread left, which is completely sufficient.
6. Useful test drive
During a test drive, drive several kilometers, if possible at higher speeds. Listen carefully for noises while driving. Look for the car to pull to one side, which indicates steering problems.
7. Speedometer trickery
A 2020 study by the repair and maintenance app Carly found that one in ten speedometers in Germany had been manipulated. Pay attention to inspection signs in the engine compartment or entries in the service booklet. Caution is advised if the inspection was carried out some time ago, but the information on the inspection plate differs only slightly from the odometer reading.
8. Checkbook checked
Have the service booklet, better known as the checkbook, HU reports and evidence of workshop visits shown to you. If the seller cannot show all of this, you should become suspicious.
9. Previous owner in the vehicle registration document
If the vehicle is less than five years old, no more than two owners should be registered, and if the vehicle is older, no more than three. Also compare the chassis number on the vehicle registration document with the chassis number on the car to ensure that the documents belong to the vehicle in question.
10. Lack of imprisonment?
When buying privately, the seller excludes liability for defects. So if you want to be on the safe side, you should buy a used car from a professional like Driverama. The so-called ease of proof applies there: If a defect occurs in the first six months after purchase, it is assumed that this was already present at the time of purchase and the dealer must prove the opposite.
If you follow these tips, nothing will stand in the way of a fair purchase of a used car, according to a recent release from the company. Driverama is an online platform for buyers and sellers of used cars in Europe. Driverama is a new brand, concept and business entity launched and developed by AURES Holdings.
