The most popular used cars

The VW Golf, the BMW 3 Series and the Mercedes C-Class are the most popular vehicle series in Europe. German manufacturers are also in the top 3 when it comes to the most popular brands in 2020: Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Volkswagen have the highest popularity ratings. This emerges from the Europe Report 2020, which is based on AutoScout24's database of over two million vehicles. Interesting: The VW Golf made it to first place in the popularity rankings in every country evaluated - with one exception. In France, the Ford Mustang can push the long-running favorite from Wolfsburg into second place.

Fluctuating prices

The good performance of the Golf is also reflected in the price development. In 2020, it cost an average of 15,476 euros across Europe, 4.8 percent less than in 2019. The average asking price of the 3 Series BMW, however, has increased: at 17,750 euros, it cost 5.8 percent more in 2020 than in the previous year. Europe's number three, however, has to cope with a decline in the asking price: the Mercedes C-Class cost an average of 23,501 euros in 2020, 5.3 percent less than the previous year.

Number 1 for electric cars

When looking at the increasingly popular electric vehicles, Tesla's Model S makes it to the top of the table almost everywhere in Europe. The exception here is again France, where the Renault ZOE relegates the Californians to second place. In Austria, the Renault ZOE takes second place, followed by the BMW i3. The Audi e-tron model also made it into the top popularity ranking among Austrians.
