Funding for e-two-wheelers
The Federal Ministry for Innovation, Mobility and Infrastructure is extending the funding for single-track electric vehicles and setting the funding pot at 1.5 million euros.

Funding for e-two-wheelers
Despite the need for consolidation, the extension of the funding is an important concern for Mobility Minister Peter Hanke: "By extending the funding for single-lane e-vehicles and expanding the e-charging infrastructure, we are sending a strong signal for the mobility transition. Two-wheeled e-vehicles save space, offer enough range for everyday use and, on top of that, protect the environment. We see great potential in this form of mobility in particular, from conventional combustion vehicles to emission-free e-vehicles to switch.” Applications for funding can be submitted from September 2025 and the program runs until spring 2026. The purchase of two-wheeled e-motorcycles of the L1e type (e.g. mopeds) and e-motorcycles of the type L3e (e.g. motorcycles) is supported. Both types of vehicles are on the road and are not allowed to drive on cycle paths. This makes them different from the “e-moped” types that travel on cycle paths.
Urban mobility
“This decision is a strong signal for a climate-friendly, space-saving and affordable mobility future – both in the city and in rural areas,” said Karin Munk, Secretary General of the 2Rad consortium. Especially in urban centers, electrically powered single-track vehicles offer a real alternative for individual, affordable transportation: zero CO₂ emissions, no parking problems, low operating costs and rapid progress without traffic jams are guaranteed. But even outside metropolitan areas, more and more people value the combination of environmental friendliness, efficiency and affordable purchase. The 2Rad consortium expects the extended funding to provide a significant boost to sales in the single-track electric vehicle segment and calls for people to use the full potential of this technology: “Two-wheelers belong in every smart city - and are also a sustainable solution for many everyday journeys in rural areas.”
The funding in detail
The funding offer is aimed at private individuals as well as companies, local authorities and associations. The flat-rate funding rates for private individuals are limited to a maximum of 50% of the eligible costs, and those for companies, local authorities and associations to a maximum of 30%.
