The question keeps coming up: How do I create a registration report for imported vehicles in the EBv? We explain the easiest and quickest way to do it.

Create registration reports for imported vehicles

If a foreign vehicle is imported into Austria, the vehicle owner needs a §57a registration certificate in order to be able to register the vehicle. In order to be able to carry out the §57a registration report, the following documents are necessary or helpful:

▶    Vehicle type certificate

▶    Individual approval notice

▶    COC papers

▶    possibly additional vehicle-specific documents

In order to enter the registration report in the EBV, the vehicle data must be entered manually into the EBV mask. A query via the registration database is not possible because the imported vehicle has never been registered in Austria and is therefore not stored in the database. The ZBD is also not connected to the approval databases of other countries - cross-country queries are therefore not possible.

Country selection is important

When entering vehicle data manually, the most important point is the country selection. The country must be selected from where the new vehicle either comes from or where the used vehicle was last registered. An example: For an imported vehicle from Germany, “Germany” must be selected in the “Country” menu item. The EBV mask indicates all mandatory fields. If a mandatory field is not filled out, the report cannot be created; the mask shows the missing points in red. Only when all mandatory fields have been filled out can the registration report for imported vehicles be properly created.

In summary

When selecting the country, always select the country from which the imported vehicle originally comes (new vehicles) or was last registered (used vehicles). Vehicle data must be entered manually and cannot be loaded from the registration database as the foreign vehicle cannot be noted in the Austrian registration database.
