Youngsters win in the Ennstal
From July 17th to 20th, one of the most important automobile racing events in Europe took place in the Styrian holiday region of Schladming-Dachstein: the “Ennstal-Classic”. Thousands of fans enjoyed the vintage car parade along the route, and as always there were many celebrities among the drivers, including ex-ski ace Aksel Lund Svindal, DTM champion Thomas Preining and motorsport legend Hans-Joachim “Strietzel” Stuck.
For more than three decades, the Ennstal Classic has been considered a dazzling summer event far beyond the scene of vintage car fans in an effort to celebrate the automobile as a cultural asset. What began in 1993 with 35 cars has now developed into a cult event that stands for sportiness, passion and steering wheel legends. As usual, the Ennstal Classic tested the limits of what was possible with the cars of yesteryear on the roads of today, with, as always, unrivaled sporty special stages that demanded a lot from both driver and navigator. This year's winners are Margarita and Magdalena Voglar. Despite challenging weather conditions at Stoderzinken and an exciting finale in Gröbming, the two young sisters from Graz were able to prevail against their competitors in the cockpit of an Alfa Romeo Giulia TI (1964). The veterans Sebastian Klackl and Nicola Kovacic-Klackl (Mini 1000 MKII, 1969) took second place, while Erich and Roswitha Volk took third place in a Ford Mustang Fastback (1965).
