Turbo for the charging infrastructure

Forstinger, a specialist retailer for car accessories and Mer, a specialist for holistic charging solutions, want to work together to promote the expansion of electromobility in Austria. The goal of the new cooperation: to consolidate the range of high-quality charging infrastructure for electric vehicles and make it accessible to everyone. The collaboration between the two companies includes an extensive expansion of the charging infrastructure for Forstinger locations throughout Austria. The HPC charging points installed by Mer can achieve an output of up to 300 kW and will be publicly accessible after completion. To charge, visitors and customers need the Mer ConnectME app or a standard charging card from a roaming provider.

"Even if a significant proportion of electric cars are charged at home or at work, we at Mer are convinced that fast and convenient charging on the go is essential for a high level of acceptance. In Forstinger, we have found a partner who shares this philosophy with us and are very pleased to be able to further strengthen the public charging infrastructure together," says Anton Achatz, Managing Director at Mer. The implementation of the charging infrastructure at 24 Forstinger locations is initially planned for 2023. The first charging points will be built at the branches in Vienna (Pragerstraße), Graz (Seiersberg), Gänserndorf and Salzburg. Two Alpitronic fast charging stations will be installed. With their DC charging system, these deliver outputs of up to 300 kW in regular operation.

In the future, the cooperation partners want to offer everything an electric car needs for climate-friendly and quick charging. In addition to a dense charging network of fast charging stations, this also includes the use of “green” electricity, because efficiency and sustainability are an important aspect of the partnership. "With the new charging solutions from Mer, we can now offer electric vehicle owners a complete package of maintenance in our specialist workshops, e-charging solutions for the home and powerful e-quick charging stations. This means that our customers will be 'Ready To Drive' even more conveniently, efficiently and environmentally friendly in the future," explains Oliver Sacher, Managing Director of Forstinger, and continues: "We want to be the first "green" mobility specialist store - as a company, in our shops and workshops and also by ensuring even wider availability of a corresponding e-charging station network.”
