Refueling: charging tariffs in comparison
The ÖAMTC presents Austria's first comparison tool for charging tariffs, which is intended to shed light on the tariff jungle.

Refueling: charging tariffs in comparison
E-car drivers in Austria are spoiled for choice: the 45 largest charging station operators alone offer over 300 tariffs with a wide variety of conditions to choose from. Roaming solutions enable individual selection of electricity provider and tariff at almost each of the 18,000 public charging points. Keeping an overview is difficult, especially for newcomers - which is why the ÖAMTC, in collaboration with Chargeprice, presents the “ÖAMTC Charging Compass”, an uncomplicated and free way to compare public charging tariffs for electric vehicles. Markus Kaiser, ÖAMTC expert for e-mobility, summarizes: "With the charging compass, you get the most important information immediately after entering the operator of the station and the output of the respective charging point - up to date: which tariffs work there, how they are made up in terms of their pricing and structure, what other conditions have to be taken into account. Such a simple and comprehensive comparison has not been possible before."
When it comes to e-charging, in contrast to refueling with fossil fuels, you have a significantly larger choice, which is much more difficult to understand: E-mobilists must know that there are different billing systems (time tariffs, kWh tariffs, flat rate tariffs), coupled with different tariff types (tariffs with or without a monthly basic fee, monthly service fees, one-off card fees, etc.). In addition, there are various roaming agreements between operators - all of which makes it difficult for end customers to keep track and find the current charging tariff that suits them. "We created the ÖAMTC charging compass because, despite the complexity of the market, our members' questions are always similar: Which tariff is right for me? How much will it cost me to charge at a specific station near me?" says the ÖAMTC expert. “With our new tool we want to create clarity and, above all, relief and thus contribute another piece of the puzzle to the spread of e-mobility.” The ÖAMTC charging compass is available for anyone interested https://oeamtc.chargeprice.app freely and freely accessible.
