Refueling: Finally fair billing based on performance
Wien Energie is introducing consumption-based kilowatt-hour tariffs from October, and Salzburg AG has been introducing them since September 18th.

Refueling: Finally fair billing based on performance
Previously, the “Tanke Wien Energie” tariffs could only be billed based on charging time. From October 2023, e-car drivers will also be able to take out the new consumption-based tariffs and will in future be billed simply and transparently in kilowatt hours (kWh) for the amount of energy they have charged. Salzburg AG is also taking advantage of the legal option that now exists to be able to bill charging for e-mobility based on energy. Since September 18th, customers have been able to charge at all Salzburg AG e-charging points from 0.45 euros/kWh. In addition, time-based “refueling” also remains.
In Vienna, the new e-mobility tariffs start with an introductory price of 0.48 euros/kWh in the Wien Energie network. The price is the same at all Wien Energie charging points, regardless of whether charging is done at a fast charger (DC) or a normal charging station (AC). The Wien Energie-Tanke app offers a full overview, in which all charging processes, including the costs incurred, can be clearly found. Existing customers can switch directly to the new tariff. New customers can see the new tariffs on the website from October 2nd www.wienenergie.at/tankecomplete. The introductory prices apply from October 2nd until March 31st, 2024. In addition to the new kWh tariffs, Wien Energie also continues to offer tariffs with time-based billing. The energy service provider wants to give all customers the freedom to choose a tariff that suits their needs. To ensure that the charging stations are only used for charging and are not used as long-term parking spaces, Wien Energie is introducing a parking time surcharge. At the public city charging stations this is 5 cents/minute from the fourth hour onwards. Wien Energie also offers an attractive offer for kWh tariffs for charging at night: between 10 p.m. and 8 a.m. the idle time surcharge is completely waived.
